Top Tips for Battling Cold

It is not normal for our elders to be shivering every night.

In a new report, Age UK warned that older people are struggling with the cold and energy bills. Concept Care prioritise keeping our patients comfortable and warm every step of the way.

Here are our 5 tips to keeping elders warm in these troubling times:

1.Electric heated clothes/blankets are a highly effective way to stay warm.

2. Staying well fuelled, our bodies are effective heating systems, so making sure you eat regular meals and drink hot drinks can help.

3. Ensuring your house is as draught proof as possible can help keep the heat in.

4. Efficient use of your boiler; setting a timer and getting a boiler check to ensure your boiler is working effectively.

5. Invest in thicker curtains or blinds prevents heat exchange around the window.

What’s NEW in Care

In a new data report, “The Big Shift: Navigating the Future of Work in the UK,” economist Dr. Shashi Karunanethy analyses data from Deputy’s scheduling software and a 2023 worker survey. The report reveals a rise in “poly-employment,” with 16% of care workers holding multiple jobs. Cost pressures are impacting care workers significantly, with 44% reporting stagnant earnings against rising living costs. Over 1.2 million Brits hold two or more jobs, reflecting broader challenges. Jon Wilson of Deputy highlights the need for predictable hours and financial security in sectors like care, hospitality, and retail, where poly-employment is prevalent. At Concept Care, we assure fair treatment for our carers, offering flexible hours that revolve around you.

Specialised care fields and niche opportunities

There many different types of social care career options available. Whilst a huge number of care workers provide social care workers choose to specialise in particular areas of care. Some of those areas include dementia care, palliative care, mental health care, or paediatric care.
These specialising opportunities will boost care workers career development and overtime this gives patients more support and care in different sectors of care.
