Carbon reduction plan for Concept Care Solutions (Scope 3)

Concept Care Solutions is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, in alignment with the UK Government’s Net Zero Target and Public Procurement Notice (PPN) 006 – Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans (February 2025).

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline year: 2023-2024

Additional details relating to the baseline emissions calculations:
Baseline emissions have been calculated in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Standard, using DEFRA 2024 emission conversion factors. CCS’s baseline year represents the first comprehensive measurement of Scope 3 emissions, reflecting our operational and supply chain activities across waste, business travel, employee commuting, and purchased goods and services.

Emission Reduction Targets

To support the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap and the UK Government’s decarbonisation strategy, CCS aims to reduce Scope 3 emissions to Net Zero by 2030

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years by 25% reduction yearly from the 2024-25 baseline to a Net Zero by 2030

Annual Reduction Targets

  • Business travel: 10% reduction via hybrid working, telehealth, and mileage targets.
  • Energy use: 10% reduction in kWh/m² through LED upgrades and staff awareness campaigns.
  • Renewable energy: 7.5% reduction via transition to verified green electricity suppliers.
  • Waste and consumption: 20% reduction in consumption and waste, including 30% fewer single-use plastics.
  • Biodiversity: Support of local green projects contributing to a further 7% reduction in overall emissions.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management initiatives have been introduced since the 2024-25 baseline year:

  • Implementation of hybrid and remote working models, reducing commuting-related emissions.
  • Expansion of recycling and waste minimisation schemes, including PPE waste segregation.
  • Migration to energy-efficient cloud platforms and paperless systems.
  • Introduction of and achieved ISO 14001-aligned environmental practices.

These measures collectively contribute to an expected reduction of approximately 0.275 tCO₂e (5%) against the 2024-25 baseline.

Future Carbon Reduction Initiatives

Between 2025 and 2030, CCS will implement the following initiatives:

  • Green Fleet Transition- Adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles for operational travel.
  • Sustainable Procurement- Preference for low-carbon and locally sourced goods and services.
  • Renewable Energy Supply- Full transition to verified 100% green electricity providers.
  • Flexible and Green Commuting- Incentives for car-sharing, cycling, and use of public transport.
  • Circular Economy Partnerships- Collaboration with local waste-to-resource initiatives to reduce landfill dependency.
  • Biodiversity Projects- Tree planting and ecological restoration partnerships to offset residual emissions.

Governance and Transparency

CCS’s carbon management programme is overseen by the Sustainability manager reporting quarterly to the Board of Directors.
Progress is measured against annual emissions targets, with performance data published transparently on the CCS website.
