Speech and Language Therapist

Job Type: Temporary/Fixed Term Contract

Salary: £20 – £25 (Per Hour)

Qualifications & Training:

• Essential:
  • Speech & Language Therapy Degree
  • HCPC registered
• Desirable:
  • RCSLT registered
  • Minimum 3 years post qualification experience working within a Paediatric setting
  • Desirable: Experience within the NHS, but candidates with Education/LA role experience will also be considered

Knowledge & Understanding:

• Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses and/or self-directed learning.
• Comprehensive theoretical knowledge of communication impairment associated with a wide range of disorders & client groups.
• Good awareness of the roles of other professionals and multi-agency working (including working in Education).
• Understanding of SEN process & EHCPs (Education Health Care Plans).
• Good IT skills including navigating a Windows-based environment. Experience with recording systems such as Patient Centre.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years post qualification experience working within a Paediatric setting.
• Experience of writing EHCPs.
• Experienced in (& high standards of) record keeping according to NHS and RCSLT policies & guidelines.
• Experience of multi-agency working, including working in schools/with Education staff.
• Experience of supporting less experienced staff.
• Desirable: Elklan and/or Hanen Trained.

Personal Skills & Qualities:

• Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Car driver/owner.
• Able to work autonomously yet seek guidance where needed.
• Flexible – able to change the timetable if the needs of the service change.
