Job Title: Home Care Live-In Carer

Overview
As a live-in carer, you will enrich someone’s life by providing them with one to one care in their own home. You will live in the client’s home with them and you will become a truly valuable part of their life. You will provide personal care, help with household chores and assisting the client to get out and about where possible. Above all else, you’ll provide companionship and emotional support – even just a chat over a cup of tea and sharing moments watching their favourite TV show.
At Concept Care Solutions, we support adults of all ages and with many varying medical conditions. Just as each of our customers and their situations are unique, over 70% of our customers are diagnosed with dementia so too are each of the live-in care placements and what you’ll be required to do.
As a live-in carer, you are likely to encounter and experience a variety of conditions including dementia, diabetes, end of life care, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, mental health needs among others, so confidence and understanding of specialist care are beneficial qualities for a live-in carer.

The live-in Carer Responsibilities
As a live-in carer, you may be involved with:
Companionship – sharing conversation and spending time together
Personal care – assisting with bathing, dressing and, when necessary, continence support
Helping with mobility – some customers need assistance getting around the home
Overseeing medication – all according to the customer’s care plan
Household chores – help around the home, such as vacuuming or washing clothes
Preparing and cooking meals
Running errands – assisting with tasks such as shopping or picking up prescriptions
Other medical support – extra training is provided for more complex support needs as well as first aid training

Skills & Experience
A minimum of 6 months experience within a care setting, either for a family member or on a professional basis
A genuine kind, compassionate, caring nature required
Reliability and commitment
Must be punctual and adhere to agreed working hours
Undertake any other duties required to effectively support the growth and development of the Business.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills and fluent English is essential as many of our clients are hard of hearing or visually impaired
Ideally car drivers either with or without a car but a licence valid for use in the UK
Be able toc over care calls in emergency and ad hoc (following company policy on logging in process in service users houses for either care or supervision purposes)
Flexible working hours
Companionship may involve:
Support and encouragement to empower your client to lead an independent lifestyle Providing full-time companionship and conversation Meal preparation and cooking Light domestic tasks and general household duties such as cleaning, bed making, laundry and ironing Accompanying clients to appointments, social engagements and errands such as shopping Pet care Communicating with family, friends and other healthcare professionals on their behalf
Personal care may additionally involve:
Washing, bathing, showering and oral care
Dressing and preparation for the day
Toileting and continence management
Assistance with eating
Assisting, administering or prompting with medication
Use of moving and handling equipment (after training) if a client is unable to mobilise on their own.
Working closely with other care professionals such as District Nurses and GPs
Assisting clients with their night-time routine, including undressing and washing
Recording and Reporting
